Units are player or AI controlled resources that can be moved around the map to perform various tasks. There are many types of units, each of which will be outlined in this article.

Transport[]

The Transport is a unique sea unit. It cannot be built. Instead, it is automatically acquired once the Naval Transportation Logistics Technology has been researched. Whenever a ground unit moves onto a water tile, it is automatically converted into a transport unit. Transports have dramatically less power than the original ground unit. Also, because transports cannot be built, they are not listed in the workshop as an available unit or chassis. This means that they can never be improved with weapons, armor, or devices.

Civilian[]

Civilian units are for either creating new cities or terraforming the landscape. These units cannot be outfitted with weapons, and therefore, cannot attack. They can, however, be given armor and devices. There are only two civilian units, and both are heavy, mechanical units.

Troopers[]

Troopers are light, biological ground units that can be produced quickly and cheaply compared to other unit types. Because they are biological and not mechanical, they have some advantage against opponents who have outfitted their units to take on mechanical units. They are also the only unit type than can use flamethrowers.

Agents[]

Agents are light, biological ground units that can infiltrate cities to carry out covert operations. Cannot flank. Cannot capture cities or ruins.

ATVs[]

ATVs are light, mechanical ground units that are slightly faster than other ground units.

Tanks[]

Tanks are heavy, mechanical ground units that are more powerful than troopers or ATV of and equal tier. They can also be outfitted with a wider variety of weapons than other types of units, with the exception of watercraft.

Mechs[]

Mechs are heavy, mechanical ground units. These massive, bipedal armor suits are the most powerful unit in the game, but also the most expensive. Because of their low mobility, mechs do not gain the usual bonus to movement speed for using roads. Also, due to their size, they cannot perform orbital deployments.

Watercraft[]

Watercraft are heavy, mechanical sea units. These units are faster than ground units, and as powerful as tanks of the same tier. However, watercraft cannot capture cities. Watercraft can also be outfitted with a wider variety of weapons than other types of units, with the exception of tanks.

Aircraft[]

Aircraft are light, mechanical airborne units. They are the fastest unit type in the game, and suffer no movement restrictions, penalties, or bonuses due to tiles.

Xenomorphs[]

Xenomorphs are NPC units that start out as non-hostiles, but will eventually become aggressive and attack nearby player units and settlements. Xenomorphs, or "aliens", are all biological units, and can be light or heavy, with ground, airborne, waterborne, and amphibious varieties. Aliens can be very destructive, able to wipe out undefended cities in only one or two turns, and are considerably dangerous for the unwary or unprepared player.
